The court is ready…the husband awaits…the best man stands next to the groom…
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. Ephesians 5:22-27
Who’s who?
Christ is the groom and the church is the bride. Jesus waits for a holy bride; He is expecting a radiant church without spot or wrinkle. Have you ever been to a wedding? You must wait for the bride to arrive. I have married people before and I always wait for the bride. Now, how many of you have been a bride? If you’ve been married before, you didn’t just show up to your wedding looking any kind of way. If you had everyone waiting, you made sure that while you walked through the garden you were the best looking person. You would not show up with your hair messed up, frizzy and chewing gum.
Waiting for The Bride
The bride makes sure she is the most beautiful one. The bible declares that Jesus is looking for a bride that’s without blemish. I bet many of you girls that are single have already imagined how you would look on your wedding day…the hair, makeup, etc…every detail has been thought out.
When will He come?
There is a wedding that’s getting ready to take place between Jesus the groom and church the bride; the bride without blemish, spot or wrinkle. We are the bride but are we ready for our marriage with Jesus Christ?
In order for the bride to be ready she needs to be holy. So for you to be ready, you need to be holy. Holiness connects all this. There’s something particular about holiness which is that of a decision of the heart. What do I need to do to be holy? You must choose the kind of life you want to live. The word holy means to be set apart for the specific use for someone. When you decide to sanctify yourself for God and to be a bride and want to do His will, you are setting yourself apart for Him; that is holiness
because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:16
Knowing my groom
You will never know God intimately unless you sanctify yourself. We need to be set apart and be completely dedicated for God. Anyone that has truly accepted Jesus will really want to sanctify themselves and live a holy life. The core of holiness is obedience to our Father. There are many young people that are very talented but not willing to sanctify themselves and set themselves apart for God’s exclusive use.
Everyone wants to be used by God but are you willing to set yourself apart for Him? Are you willing to serve Him with everything you have, with every cent and with every talent?
What I need to do
Coming to church and singing songs won’t make you a Christian. You can be parked in a garage but that doesn’t make you a car. It’s time that you sanctify your hands to glorify God. When you make a decision you must quit a lot of things. You cannot do it on your own. You may say “I want to be clean but it’s too hard for me pastor, I can’t stop masturbating, I can’t stop talking about my neighbor.” First, it starts with a decision.
2 things we must do for a change
- Make a quality decision, if not, years will go by and you’ll still be the same.
- Holiness will be achieved through the power of His grace.
- Walk away from good things.
God wants holy vessels. What will make you put down illicit sex and drinking? What will make you wait years with the person you love the most until you go to the altar? What will make you leave friends that you grew up with but are pushing you away from God? What would make you put down your life? The answer is the power of His grace. God is looking for a pure body. He doesn’t want perfection, He wants holiness. When you tell Him I love you, make sure that mouth has been holy and not kissing people you shouldn’t be. He doesn’t want you to worship Him from your lips but from your heart.
How does His grace work?
His grace is only going to come upon the humble. I need that grace to keep myself up. If you’re full of pride, it’s not going to come to you. You want to get to the point where you can say, “Satan, you have nothing on me.”
When I was 11 yrs old I made a covenant with Him that I was going to serve Him. I don’t know how but if I ended up in this church I’m going to be holy. I was 18 and people would ask me why I was not having sex. God will have you separated for Him. He will have you walk away from sin and the world.
How God feels…
God feels sad because you’re His son or daughter and many of you are slaves. Slaves to people’s opinions, to your circumstances, sin, when He wants you to be His slave. God revealed to me that every time you sin, you nail Him back on the cross. If you would think about that nastiness you do, you’d truly not do it. You say it controls you but as long as you have a will, you can do the will of God. Walk away from sin and the world. Decide to sanctify yourself as the Word of God says be holy as I am holy.
You want to serve Him? It’s not enough to quit lying, fornicating, drinking and smoking; He wants you to walk away from the world.
What are the good things?
These are the things that are taking away time from Him. Don’t sit here and be mediocre. There’s too much of God in you and if you want something different you need to do something different. God is sick of you wasting your time. Don’t play games and don’t play with your eternity. God, you want my time, money, family, and friends? I’m going to serve even if I have to serve you by myself. Even if there’s nobody there to cheer, even if none of my friends or family members support me.
Time to give it up!
Don’t expect God to use you greatly if you’re not ready to give up something for God. God told Abraham, “I want your child.” Abraham had waited 100 yrs for this child! Yet he lifted up a knife and was ready to kill him but God said, “hold on a minute, now I know you fear me.” God has asked you over and over again to give that something up and you said, “God, don’t be selfish.” But He’s still going to ask you to give something up. You need to get rid of attitudes, of areas He wants you to change. How long are you going to keep Him waiting? He wants you to get to the point where you make a decision. Give Him your money, family, the years of your youth, the best years, serve Him! He’s the best thing that could have happened to you.
Are you ready?
Are you ready to say to God, “I’ll do whatever you want me to do, whatever it is. I’m willing to sacrifice all!”
Give up those good things that are in the way. Give up that thing that is holding you back. Let him deal with your heart.
Let the bride come in all beauty, all splendors…

Pastor frank I was really touched by what you said on this article I felt like if you where talking straight to my heart everything you say is true we want to serve god but still not willing to let go of the things of this world like sex, drinking and hanging out with people who only want to see you doing wrong thank you this article has made me realize that I have to give my all to God cant serve god and this world at the same time. Pastor frank I just want to share a testimony. God touched my life and help me relize what my calling is and thisa is the season that we all trully need to prepare for. I was working for a club/bar and I kept going through this constant spiritual battle and I finally surrenderd myself and put my trust, faith, and belief in God and our lord jesus christ. So I felt like God told me to quit that club/bar and never return for the works he has ready for me to do are far greater and far important than the works of the devil cuz that’s what that place was for. I quit that job immidiatly with no other job in line with my trust in God that I will greatly be taking care of. Thank u for letting me share on ur beautiful and useful page. Thank u.

Wow this hit it right on the money. ive been on a journey one that im still on. btw your service was awesome tonight. I for one know how AMAZING Jesus is and how REAL he is. Ive been on a spirtual warfare that no1 should ever experience. But someone told me it was going to help me with my ministry. ( i was like sureeee guy) Anyways Ive since given my life 100 percent to God. Through the Holy Spirit Ive changed in ways I never though i would. I am soo in love with him I cant get enough of him. Pastor: Su palabra me llego al corazon! Siento que es uan palabra muy para mi Dios me dio justo ahí. A mi me pasaba esto, me ponía mal y ya venia una amiga mía a casa y me decían para salir a boliches y todo eso y ahí como que me alejaba de Dios y hacia lo que yo quería. Nunca hubo una sujeción en mi. Nunca me determine a decir basta yo voy a dejar estoy y voy a seguir a Jesús o por ahí lo decía pero no lo hacia. Y me di cuanta de que estar así no me sirve nunca crezco ni nada por el estilo. Asique ahora estoy dispuesta a hacerlo, mucho tiempo divague e cosas que no me convenían.
