A lot of people think that when you accept Jesus, that it’s enough for your life to change in an instant.  They make it seem like Christianity is a magic trick. You cannot take a pill and change. Christianity is more than this. Jesus won it all at the cross, that’s true, but it’s a process between confessing Jesus and actually surrendering your life to Him.

Let me explain…

When you accept Jesus, that’s when the real battle starts. All hell breaks loose. You were walking broken but the minute you accept Christ you begin to have all this trouble.  We give the RIGHT to Jesus to be our Lord but it’s a process to really LET Him be the Lord of our lives.

Two things to know when you receive Jesus in your heart…

1) Its a long process and not a magic trick.
2) The spiritual world is real

“12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”  Ephesians 6.12

We need to know and understand that our battle is not against flesh and blood, it is against the principalities in the heavenly realms. Now, you can believe it or you can ignore it but it’s not ignoring you. That is where the attacks come from. There are people that don’t want you to believe that the spiritual world is real. The bible says that what you bind in heaven shall be bound on earth.  I’ve gotten my emotions slapped around to the point that I wanted to leave everything but when you understand the spiritual world you will understand where to go to deal with the problem from the root.

Why are you going through the same junk?

So many people are walking around with rejection. The devil of low self esteem is still around you and you don’t know what to do about it.  The reason why people are still dealing with those issues in their emotions and in their soul is because we are a 3 part being.  One thing to keep in mind is that demons need a body to abide in so they try to jump on you because they get in trouble with the devil if they don’t take a body. Now, the way they do this is only when you give them access to do so. By opening a door to sin, you are opening a door to the devil and his friends to torment you!

Our three parts

The Principle: We are a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body.

The spirit
1) Our inner most part
a. It is perfect
b. It always wants to pray and read the Word
c. It is where (the place) communion with God takes place
d. Where you are alike with the Father because He’s a spirit and so are you

2) Your inner voice
a. “14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”  Romans 8.14

3) Your conscious
a. The place where you decide from wrong (some of you should listen to your conscious, it will save you from lots of trouble)

The soul
It is the seat of your will, mind, and emotions. It is human nature and nothing good comes out of it. It’s the old man, the one you need to renew.  It is egotistical, angry, insecure, rebellious, rude, exhibitionist, prideful and arrogant. Your soul will never want to worship God, seek God, act like He tells us to act or want to obey. The soul is the complete opposite of your spirit and so your spirit needs to control your soul.

1) Will
a. Not the will of God but your will
b. Decides what to feel,
c. Decides how to act (decides to keep acting angry and rude; to be a liar)

2) Emotions
a. Controlled by outside circumstances, things that surround you not inside of you
b. Base decisions by what other people did to you
c. Your will is lead by emotions
d. Lead to go and do what doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable

Take this into consideration: As youth, you want to be lead by emotions and maybe are being led by them right now. The youth tend to grow weak and stumble due to the immaturity of our age. We tend to get discouraged, sad and lonely. But you must take control in what God wants to do in you and not give up. Do not confuse your emotions with inspiration from the Sprit of God.  Jesus felt every emotion that you feel. He was rejected, persecuted, and His own people neglected Him. They wanted to kill Him because He was standing up for everything that was right. He knew He was the Son of God by faith. He felt wrath, anger, sadness and fear but He never let them control Him.

3) Mind
a. Reminds you of the past
b. Battles between living to a standard that it thinks its right yet Jesus wants you to surrender
c. It leads you to the culture of what you’ve been taught to do things

How do we deal with the soul?

Our will…
You need to deliver yourself from not giving up your will to God. You must surrender it by emptying it out and filling it with God’s. How do you do it? You first renounce to your will and live in obedience to God. I am always renouncing and repenting, it is like my one two punch.  We must submit to things we don’t want to do.

Our mind…
You must renew it every day through the Word of God. The mind needs to be controlled by the Sprit of God.

Our emotions…
Allow the Spirit of God to put His life in you through submission. Until you do so, you will continue to walk bound and pretend everything’s ok.

You must renounce to the things you did or they will slowly kill you and your spiritual life. Renounce to your past and to the spirits that would govern your life before.

“25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”  John 12.25

Your life – Psyche (your plans and will)
God life – Zoe (His life and will)
The bible says he who hates his own will, his soul or to be independent from God, will gain eternal life (the zoe of God). Zoe is where God is, where His meekness, humbleness, mercy and perseverance are at.  This is where you will bear the fruit of God. Decide today to renounce to yourself and to every fleshly desire because you want to hate this life, your life, to let His life live in you.

In other words…

Get mad at the devil and beat him like Jesus beat him by surrendering to the Spirit of God. The devil will try to get you in the same place you were before to have the same tendencies as before. Persevere!  We have already won; the devil is a defeated foe.  Jesus beat him after rising from the dead!  Immerse yourself in the Word of God even if your flesh doesn’t want to.

Resist the devil! For the destiny that was held back is called forth!
