I am here to give you a word from God, regardless of where you stand, you will need it someday.I’m tired…
I’m tired of people going to hell. Jesus spoke more of hell than of heaven. This isn’t a religious activity or debate but a reality. There are people right now that are burning in hell. It’s more than just calling it hell; it signifies spending an eternity away from God. There are people right now that aren’t just in hell but people who are going through things and situations that are burning them.
The potential of a match
For many of you, all you have in your hand is one match. One match may seem very insignificant as a source of fire but it can turn a whole forest into ashes. Like that, a habit can become a lifestyle. You may say you come to church but still drink one night once in a while, a casual drink but then becomes an addiction where you have to drink everyday. One insignificant match causes a whole fire. Hell is a real place and so is that situation you’re dealing with. That mess, battle, or area you’re dealing with may seem nothing but sometime down the line it can make you spend a whole eternity away from God. He wants to speak to you because he’s going to rescue you from hell and from that situation.
What fire are we saving them from?
We need to snatch people from the fire and save them. What fire? Fire that’s burning people in their problems. You know there are some that are so far away from God that they are one step from burning forever in hell. Hell is a place where the heat will never cease and the worm never die. Jesus preached this because He wants us to rescue someone from the fire. God is laying a challenge before you, He wants some Holy Ghost fire fighters that don’t stay passive. Don’t let your family and friends burn in hell. Rescue them! There are people in your life that God has specifically put there because they need to be snatched. It’s time to snatch them out of fire, out of drugs and fear!
Running into the burning house while everyone’s running out
22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; Jude 1:22
Ever wonder why a firefighter has so much audacity? He runs into a burning building while everyone is running out. Everyone’s screaming fire yet they’re running in the opposite direction. Hollywood answered that question; they do it because they have courage. But the Holy Ghost told me that courage isn’t enough. What truly makes you run and save somebody who seems so unreachable is compassion. Compassion goes beyond courage. You say you’re tough but it’s not going to get the job done. What will make you speak to a life that everyone is running away from? What would make you go and preach to somebody that has a tough look on their face and dealing with tough circumstances? The answer is compassion.
I once went to somebody and told them they needed Jesus. They pulled a gun on me but I still told them they need Jesus. I had the courage to do that, but I learned through the years that it’s more than courage, it’s compassion I needed.
The need of compassion
Compassion is needed to run into a life while everyone is running away from it. We need to rescue those that are slaves to cocaine and bound to homosexual tendencies. God told me to look into the eyes of a firefighter. I tell you that what you will see are flames. Desperation to rescue those that are burning is so evident that you cannot imagine.
It’s not enough to be brave but you must cry tears of compassion. Jesus is telling you that that is a challenge in front of you to rescue those that are in flames. What are the flames? Like I mentioned before, it is that situation that is consuming the lives of many everyday. The firefighter of all times is getting ready to come down to your rescue! Jesus is that firefighter that is ready to rescue you! He says to hold on tight and I’m going to be there with my helmet and my hose to put that fire out!
The rescue
Jesus is the best example to show us how to go into a fire, into a burning building and come out victorious. He himself went to hell! He laid in the center of the earth, in hell, where the flames don’t die. On His way to hell He hung on the cross for 3 days and 3 nights.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matthew 12:40
Must I go through the fire?
Nothing in life will come to you until you go through the fire. You need to deal with that match inside you that inclines to do something that is against God’s will. Remember that one small fire can set a forest to ashes. How is God going to quench it? You need bring it to the cross, hang it there because at any given time He will come to rescue. Can you see Him? He’s coming to my rescue. I’m not going to stay in this fire for the rest of my life!
In the middle of all that God showed His fire and glory by raising Jesus from the dead. A real firefighter doesn’t stay down and will do whatever it takes to save that individual. Some of you get tired and give up too quickly. Imagine a firefighter going into a burning house and in the middle of it gets tired, complains that his helmet is too heavy, and cries out for help. But they don’t! They stand in the fire! They rescue all that need rescuing! Don’t quit! There’s so much more than complaining and quitting in you! You don’t even know what you have…
What do you get after the fire?
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, Philippians 2:9-10
The fire will bring the gold out of you; the best out of you. There’s no leadership unless you get tried, tempted, slapped in the cheek and are ready to turn the other, or get spat at, or thorns on your head, and get plucked on the beard like Jesus. You’re not going to make it far unless you get put through the fire.
Compassion takes you in, perseverance brings you out
Compassion will take you into the fire and perseverance will bring you out. You know what keeps me here? When I pray I see your faces. I don’t want you to be slaves of that one tendency, of that one match. Perseverance keeps me here because I want to see you get to your destiny. Many times you want to quit in your walk with God, but in the middle of the fire you need to persevere and even if God doesn’t bring me out of the fire when I want to, I won’t bow down to idols, I will stay standing until He rescues me.
Your scars have a story to tell
This firefighter suit I’m wearing is dirty; it’s gone through many fires just like many of you. Many have scars, marks on your body of the many times you’ve been through the fire. Are you willing to carry the scars of a firefighter? I’m not ashamed of my scars or what I’ve been through because somehow I made it through it all. I went through not having enough, not fitting in, being alone and rejected, but I’m still here.
So let’s review…
- You can’t just rescue someone unless you are filled with compassion. It will help you reach those nobody wants to reach.
- You need to realize Jesus has always been the best example. He won’t give you something you cannot handle because He’s been through it. Jesus wants to teach you how to stand in the fire and be a firefighter.
- Get to the point of understanding that there won’t be reward or leadership until you go through the fire rescuing someone.

You may seem unreachable, but you know in your heart that you still don’t have a relationship with Christ. I’m talking about a firm solid relationship with God; not that you just believe because even the demons believe in Jesus. Make a decision today to receive Christ in your heart and surrender it all to Him. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. For those that have Jesus in their hearts, make a decision to rescue others just like you were rescued one day.
